ROWonAIR® is suitable for all levels of rower, even if you have never rowed before. Simply take a seat and off you row!
Choose the best ROW ON for you:
- Beginners will have the most fun on the SUP 14' (426). It is stable in the water and great fun to row even in big waves and can be used in all wind, water and weather conditions. In addition, at 9.8 kg (21.6 lbs) it is very lightweight and easy to take with you.
The AIRSKIFF 17' (517) is similar to a skiff and a bit more agile in the water - perfect for rowing athletes and rowers with experience. Newbies can learn on this too - you'll just need a bit more patience and a good feeling for balance. Compared to a racing skiff with a hard shell, the design of the AIRSKIFF hull is very forgiving. The two side chambers do not touch the water while you are underway, so that the AIRSKIFF glides at speed through the water. If you do tip to one side, they stabilise you. There is therefore only a small risk of capsizing.
- The AIRKAYAK 16' (485) is also ideal for learning to row. It is even more stable than the SUP 14' (426), and there is plenty of space to take the whole family plus grandchildren and baggage with you. At the same time you can enjoy some healthy rowing exercise and easily learn how to row.
From our range of ROWonAIR® models, the AIRSKIFF 17' (517) has the closest feeling to rowing a hard shell boat.
You need good balance to row the AIRSKIFF 17' (517). However, compared to a racing skiff with a hard shell, the special design of the hull is more stable in the water. The two side chambers do not touch the water while you are underway, so that the AIRSKIFF 17'. (517) glides at speed through the water. If you do tip to one side, the side chambers stabilise you. The risk of capsizing is therefore lower than with a classic skiff with a hard shell.
With the AIRSKIFF 17' (517) you can reach the highest speed of the ROWonAIR® range at approx. 10 kph. Of course it does not quite achieve the same performance as a racing skiff. However, when it comes to stowage, the AIRSKIFF 17' (517) wins hands down. Despite its length of 17 feet, it can easily be taken by plane, bus, car or even bike.
Dr. V. Schmidt, a rower with more than 30 years of experience tried it out and simply exclaimed: "Yes, you can really row that!"
The best thing is to try it out for yourself at one of our dealership/demo events. Or contact us regarding another test possibility - many of our customers would be pleased to demonstrate the AIRSKIFF 17' (517) in person.
Yes it is. Thanks to the design of the high quality, innovative joints, the same speed is achieved as with reverse rowing, completely without loss of power or energy. In addition, the RowVista® oars are even easier to use than classic oars because they are mounted on ball bearings. The reason why you get blisters on your hands using standard oars is because the sculling sleeve and collar are relatively difficult to rotate in the rowlock. With RowVista® oars you are much less likely to develop blisters.
RowVista® offers you a high level of safety. Facing forwards, there is no way that you can overlook an obstacle, rock, swimmer or other boat. Rowing with RowVista® is precisely as fast as with RowMotion®, the classic reverse rowing system. RowVista® is a high strength system built from high quality materials: anodised aluminium that is resistant to sea water, castings, carbon oars. You can row for thousands of kilometres trouble-free.
Setting up ROWonAIR® products is a matter of clicking and slotting the mechanisms into place - it is quick, easy and no tools are needed. The Rowing Skid – RowVista® or RowMotion® – takes less than 2 minutes to assemble. Pumping up by hand takes for the
So depending on the ROW ON, you will be on the water within 5 – 9 minutes and can rowing wherever and whenver you like.
Yes, RowVista® and RowMotion® Rowing Skids can be fitted to any standard inflatable and hardboard/composite SUP, including from other brands such as Naish, RedPaddle, Mistral, BIC Sports, Fanatic, Starboard, Jobe, JP Australia, etc. The only thing to note is that the longer the board, the smoother the ride. The longer the SUP, the faster, smoother and more enjoyable the rowing will be. We recommend a minimum length of 3.6 metres (12'0'').
There are two systems you can use to mount the Rowing Skid on your SUP board - UNI STRAP or UNI HOOK:
- The standard method is using 2 belts (UNI STRAP): insert the two belts supplied through the rectangular openings in the support feet, wrap them around the SUP board and pull them tight. The Rowing Skid is now attached securely to your board without having modified the board in any way.
- Alternatively, we offer the same solution as for the AIRSKIFF 17' (517), SUP 14' (426) and AIRKAYAK 16' (485) (UNI HOOK): On the roller rails there are two mounting belts fitted with stainless steel hooks and buckles. All you need to do to your board is install D rings with which to attach the Rowing Skid.
Ready, steady row - now you have converted your Stand Up Paddle board into a rowing boat!
Yes, RowVista and RowMotion® Rowing Skids fit inflatable-kayaks made by other brands like KXone Slider, BIC YakkAir Full HP, Sea Eagle RazorLite, etc. The only thing to note is that the longer the board, the smoother the ride. The longer the kayak the faster, smoother and more enjoyable the rowing.
For kayaks choose the yoke outrigger (Y): RowVista® Rowing Skid Y or RowMotion® Rowing Skid Y. Please check the dimensions to make sure that the outrigger fits inside your kayak. To attach the rowing system, you need to glue D rings to the kayak. Please contact us to obtain information on mounting solutions for specific models.
Unfortunately, due to their length, it is not possible for two people to row at the same time on our ROW ONs. However, with the AIRKAYAK 16' (485) you can take up to two passengers on board. Other SUP board manufacturers offer longer inflatable boards, on which it might be possible to install two of our rowing systems (RowVista® or RowMotion®) so that two people can row at the same time. We are currently testing whether it is possible for two people to enjoy rowing the 22-foot long Board Dragon by Red Paddle – 2 RowVista®, 2 RowMotion® or mixed, so that the rowers can see each other and communicate while they are rowing. We will keep you informed. Follow our news or contact us if you would like to know more.

Look after your inflatable SUP, skiff and kayak carefully and it will serve you well. Ideally you should wash it with clean water after each outing and roll it up loosely and protect it against direct sunlight while in storage. Inflatable SUPs, skiffs and kayaks should not be exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods while in storage. They should be kept in a cool and shaded location to ensure that you will be able to enjoy them for a long time.
No, but we recommend that they are not exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods. If you follow these instructions, your ROW ON will last a long time.
You can store them rolled up in a bag, inflated, or lightly rolled. If you are not going rowing but want to store it inflated, we recommend that you reduce the pressure slightly.
Yes, no problem. Airlines treat ROWonAIR® as bulky luggage, like skis, kiteboards, wind surfing kit, surfboards, etc. For RowMotion® we recommend the detachable oars with a detached length of 1.75 metres each (5'9"). The exact weights and dimensions are listed on the ROW ON and ROW WITH pages.
